My good friend Nicole is having
a baby shower next Saturday.
I already ordered her a present to be shipped to
her house,
but I wanted to bring something to the party that she could unwrap.
I found some ABC flashcards and
a duckie-shaped soap at Michaels.
Yes, yes, I know
that the baby probably won't read for the first two weeks or so,
but I like to
think ahead. I also picked up some blue tissue paper, some scrapbooking cutouts,
and some blue ribbon.
Total cost: About $6.

Of course, whenever crinkly paper is involved, Ruby is lurking nearby to supervise and help.

I used the pre-cut scrapbook cutouts on some stationery I had lying around my
office.
The envelope is on the top left. The card is the one with the crib,
mobile, and bear and says
"To Nicole and Ryland - Because it's never too early
to raise a genius"

I layered three pieces of tissue paper, each in a different shade of blue, and glued them such that the package shows off all three colors in a strip along the top of the package. This is what the experts refer to as: anal retentiveness.
Note: The glue stick is in the picture to show scale.
Not pictured: Jennifer's clear loss of practicality.

Once tacked down and trimmed, I think the little package looks rather handsome.
Note: This phrase may only be applied to wrapped ABC flashcards.
I can think of
at least one other instance in which the phrase would have a deleterious effect.

I taped the duckie to the top of the package and used a leftover band of tissue to finish the package.
Finish the package? Never! Must. Embellish. More

I created a disco-worthy bow to attach to something, but I didn't want to cover
the duckie,
so I tacked the bow onto the back of the envelope.
Problem: I can't
attach the envelope to the package now.
Solution: Must. Embellish. More.

I add my calling card to the back of the package annnnd....

...make a little bow to put on the duckie to tie the two together. (No pun intended.)
The finished product. Ahhhhhh.
