My grandmother’s wake was this weekend. My mom, my dad, and my aunt did a wonderful job planning and throwing a Bon Voyage party that I know Nana would be proud of. It wasn’t sad at all; it was upbeat, celebratory, and wonderfully catered. I got to see relatives that I haven’t seen since before I was a teenager.
Some of Dim’s family was here this weekend, too, for separate reasons. They are a fun bunch to hang out with. I also had a girls’ night with friends on Saturday. I told myself that I would only stay for an hour or two, but ended up staying much longer. It was fun to get out of the house and cackle with girlfriends while eating great food.
For my Nana’s Bon Voyage, I created a nice scrapbook full of pictures of Nana and the family culled from her photo collection for my dad and my aunt. I had a lot of help from Kat (thanks, Kat!) They got a kick out of it, and it was nice to show the guests at the Bon Voyage party the family pictures.
The Greek houseguests left this morning, and Dimitri’s working late tonight, so the house is very empty and quiet, except for Bean’s hooting.
