Mahi Mahi Mahi Get Your Adverbs Here

So I cooked the fish (finally). It was actually pretty good! The kitchen smells like fish, which is a downer, but I can't air the downstairs out because it's really very windy and I don't want a million pounds of sand downstairs.

I just finished grading a pile of essays. It really amazes me that college juniors and seniors (the essays are for an MCAT class) lack a basic grasp of grammar and style. For example, I thought that most collegiate-level students understood that adjectives and adverbs are not interchangably. I guess that I am real mistakenly.

Yes, I do own the complete CD collection of School House Rock, but Grammar Rock (generally) and Conjunction Junction (specifically) are by FAR my favorites: Grammar Rock

Better Than Ezra has a great cover of Conjunction Junction. The mp3 is 3.5 meg, but worth it: Download mp3

According to the site you linked to: "There are two types of Schoolhouse Rock fans. Type A: those who--inspired in the '70s and '80s by "Conjunction Junction" and "Interjections!"--went on to become grammar gurus, copyeditors, and computational linguists. And type B: those who--less inspired by grammar than by catchy refrains" Even though I am Type B, I maintain that Schoolhouse Rock started long before 1970. I was 18 years old in 1970 and I believe already loved Schoolhouse Rock by then.

Susan, Schoolhouse Rock ABC animated series began in 1973. I don't recall ever hearing of it before then. Maybe you used to fantasize about our "Grammar Can Be Fun" books coming to life as musicals and that's confusing you now.

Well I must have had a second childhood. Or maybe I remember it from Debra's childhood? Boy I'm old!

I have to pat myself on the back for the title of this post. I made myself laugh... which actually is not that hard, so perhaps it isn't that grand of an achievement...Nevermind. I said nothing.
